Meet Kashish Mehta , a marvelous candle-maker, an enchanting crystal healer, and a certified tarot card reader whose lockdown was spent in building her spiritual and creative self. She has breathed meaning into emotional and physical healing through the technique of Reiki.

What drew you towards the art of candle-making in the first place?
Initially, I started with crystal healing that brought me towards candle-making. As I have been making candles since my childhood, I decided to fuse the two techniques to induce change in people.
Which manufacturing techniques do you use to create new candle shapes and colour designs?
I do not employ any specific manufacturing techniques. The candles are created in common cylindrical form whereas the colours are picked according to their healing abilities. Each colour radiates some energy and they are utilized according to the requirements.
When did you first get acquainted with the knowledge of the healing powers of crystals and how did further research-gates open up for you?
I stumbled upon the concept of crystal healing in the early stages of the lockdown, last year. The idea of healing appealed to me; hence, I started researching further to know more about the concept.
Tell us about your first experience of performing crystal healing on a client. Did you ever make a rookie mistake? If yes, how did you rectify it?
It was an amazing experience when I first performed crystal healing on a client. I realized that when I invest my energies it is bringing change and healing to a person; this is extremely fulfilling.
I never made a rookie mistake while performing crystal healing as I am not willing to carry out my work without being 100% confident about the results.
What methodology do you pursue to curate and choose the stones and crystals that you employ?
There isn’t any rigid methodology that I pursue. It is very organic depending upon the client’s requirement and my intuition. I ensure that the stones and crystals I choose bring about necessary changes for the client.
Tell us a bit about the incidents that led to the foundation of your belief system and desire to practice tarot reading.
Honestly, it all began with my journey as a crystal healer. When I set my foot into the industry, every second client wanted a tarot card reader, which made me curious and soon I was drawn towards it and pursued several courses to become a certified tarot card reader.
A lot of sceptics frown upon terms like “crystal healing” and “Tarot cards”. What is your message to them?
In my experience, most sceptics believe that tarot and crystals are associated with black magic and it will provide them with some evil powers. This is a widely held misconception.
Do you believe your talent of reading cards to be something God-gifted or was it cultivated over time with practice and can someone learn it from his or her own?
No, I don’t think my talent is God-gifted. It has to be cultivated over some time as much as any other field of study.
Yes, one can learn the entire process on their own. If you have the interest and slowly develop the conceptions, you can go ahead and learn to practice tarot card reading.

How do the cards serve as prompts and visual aids in conveying the messages you received intuitively?
The cards provide me with certain information which I interpret and then convey the message to the client. This process is best performed in live sessions and therefore I avoid conducting any reading over video or voice calls.
Do you believe the concept of Reiki to have links with the ancient Chinese theory of Chi? If yes, then how?
Yes, it has a connection. Mikao Usui, the promoter of Reiki, used the technique of palm-healing to bring about physical and emotional changes. The process has evolved since ancient times.
