World’s Third Largest Diamond Found in Botswana Mines

Botswana diamond

A unit of De Beers Plc known as Debswana Diamond Co., excavated a 1,098-carat stone. The precious stone was unearthed on June 1, in Botswana. The mining company had been functioning for five decades.

The initial analysis has indicated that the discovered stone could be the world’s third largest diamond. There are high chances of it being third biggest only to the Cullinan diamond found in South Africa (1905) and the Lesedi la Rona that was discovered in Botswana (2015).

It was discovered at the world’s richest mine, Jwaneng. This mine is currently undergoing a major extension project.
