The 91-year-old former Indian track and field athlete passed away on June 18. Owing to COVID-19 complications, Milkha Singh’s health condition deteriorated as he developed fever and low oxygen saturation level.
Popularly known as ‘The Flying Sikh’, Milkha Singh had contracted the coronavirus in the second week of May. He was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of PGIMER hospital because of a dip in oxygen saturation level. According to the statement released by the hospital, he had tested negative for Covid. However, due to post-covid complications his condition worsened. Few days ago, Singh’s wife Nirmal Kaur, had also died while battling COVID-19.
