The politician facing backlash is the incumbent union cabinet minister for Women & Child Development, Maneka Gandhi. She is the wife of late politician Sanjay Gandhi. Currently, Maneka Gandhi and her son Varun Gandhi are BJP leaders, while the former being an animal lover as well as an animal rights activist.
An audio clip is doing rounds in which Maneka can be heard using humiliating language against a veterinary doctor. This conversation is centred around a dog’s treatment. The incident has invited an outrage of veterinarians all over the country. 23 June was observed as a Black Day to protest against the BJP MP by the Indian Veterinary Association (IVA).
