It’s that time when the whole entertainment industry is buzzing with the excitement of Emmy Nominations 2021. The Emmy Awards are presented annually to those having outstanding achievements in television. Moreover, they are declared by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, United States. Therefore, only members of the Academy are eligible to vote for their respective disciplines.

This year will witness the 73rd Emmy Awards. In addition to it, the past year saw a global pandemic. It is still very much the reality right now. In these trying times, many of us sought relief through bingeing web series and others.

Know Everything about Emmy Nominations 2021

One of the most awaited Emmy Awards nominations were declared on Tuesday. They were announced at the Television Academy’s Saban Media Center in North Hollywood. Without further ado, let’s hop on to this year’s nominations. It’s a tie at the top between Netflix’s royal drama ‘The Crown’ and Disney+ Star Wars series, ‘The Mandalorian’. Thereupon, ‘The Crown’ and ‘The Mandalorian’ have both bagged a total of 24 nominations.

Here we present before you a breakdown of nominations with respect to the streaming platform. First of all, regardless of being in its sophomore year, Disney+ has outshined everyone in the limited series category. Its ‘WandaVision’, the Marvel superhero spinoff has secured 23 nominations. More importantly, Disney+ had only 19 nominations in its first year whereas this time it has 71! Adding up the parent company’s platforms such as Hulu and ABC, Disney has 146 nominations under its name.

HBO and HBO Max have earned 130 nominations this time. Moreover, Apple TV+ also in its second year has clearly dominated the comedy category with ‘Ted Lasso’ getting 20 nominations. Coming to Netflix, though it has gotten a high number of nominations, it hasn’t secured the prestigious ‘Best Drama Series’ Emmy Award. However, this time the show has all the good reasons to win! Netflix’s regency era drama ‘Bridgerton’ has also secured nominations. We are already swooning over this. Other than that, ‘Indian Matchmaking’ has also been nominated under the Outstanding Reality Program category.

The 73rd Emmy Awards will be presented through a live ceremony in Los Angeles on 19th September.
