Afghan women threw babies over spiky wire at the Kabul international airport. What caused this? Let’s take a brief look. The fall of Afghanistan’s military and government have paved the way for the Islamist group, the Taliban. This takeover sounded like a nightmare to many. While people from all over the world are expressing grief for the miserable fate of Afghans, these innocent civilians are experiencing the ordeal. Among them are the vulnerable groups, such as women, the Hazara community, Hindus and Sikhs. The Taliban has reportedly declared a ‘General Amnesty’ in Afghanistan.

Enamullah Samangani, a member of the Taliban’s cultural commission says, “The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan with full dignity and honesty has announced a complete amnesty for all Afghanistan, especially those who were with the opposition or supported the occupiers for years and recently.” He further says, “The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is ready to provide women with environment to work and study, and the presence of women in different (government) structures according to Islamic law and in accordance with our cultural values.”
