On Friday at UNGA, Pakistan again raised the issue of Kashmir. On this Indian diplomat, Sneha Dubey gave a “full of facts” reply to PM Imran making him quiet about the issue. She said that “J&K and Ladakh were, are, and will be an integral part of India”. Another attempt of Pakistan to strangle India went in vain.  

What happened at UNGA?

Imran said that Pakistan wants peace with India. It depends upon the resolution of the Jammu & Kashmir dispute. He had spoken about the August 5, 2019 decision of the Indian government on the abrogation of Article 370 as well as the death of pro-Pakistan separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani.

By using Right to Reply Sneha spoke that ” Pakistan prime minister is misusing the global platform by bringing our internal affairs. The union territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh were, are, and will remain an integral part of India. This includes the area which are under illegal occupation of Pakistan. we call upon Pakistan to immediately evacuate all its illegally occupied areas.”‎

She added, “Members of UN are aware that Pakistan has a history of policy of harboring, assisting, and actively supporting terrorists. it is a country that has been recognized as supporting, training, financing, and arming terrorists as state policy globally. Pakistan also holds a humiliating record of hosting the largest number of banned terrorists by the UN security council.”

Sneha said that “This is the country which is an arsonist disguising itself as a fire-fighter.”

Sneha Dubey’s story

Sneha Dubey, her father works at a multinational company (MNC) while her mother is a teacher, is an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer of the 2012 batch. She completed her schooling in Goa and then moved to Pune for graduation. She completed her graduation from Pune’s Fergusson College. Later, she received her MPhil degree in International Studies from Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Delhi.

Sneha was just 12-year-old when she first dreamt of joining the Indian Foreign Services (IFS). She states that her inspiration to join the foreign services was a combination of learning about international affairs, the thrill of discovering new cultures, representing the country, being part of important policy decisions, and helping people.

 In 2011, Sneha, who is also fond of traveling, believes that becoming an IFS officer gave her the best opportunity to represent India. She cleared the civil service exams in her first attempt. After getting selected her first appointment was at the Ministry of External Affairs. Sneha is the first person in her family to join the government services. In August 2014, she was posted at the Indian Embassy in Spain’s Madrid.

This is not the first time that a senior woman officer has given a reply to Pakistan. Earlier, Enam Gambhir and Vidisha Maitra have also played this crucial role.‎
