Do you remember last Christmas season when everyone was suddenly interested in balls, flowing gowns, and old-school romances?
On 25 December, 2020 Bridgerton was released on Netflix and suddenly everyone was talking about it. It’s a romance-drama set during Regency England which follows the life of eight Bridgerton siblings and their quest to find love.
Recently Netflix dropped the first clip of Bridgerton 2 and we cannot be more excited.
It’s time to revisit the series and talk about our first thoughts on Bridgerton 2 !
A New Clip released by Netflix!
Yes, we too weren’t able to contain our excitement after getting the news.
The clip shows Simone Ashley’s Kate Sharma being shown having a heated talk with Anthony Bridgerton at a party. We see Kate roasting Anthony for his old-fashioned values, especially his requirements for a wife.
The underlying tension between them is keeping us on the edge. Is this going to be another enemies-to-lovers relationship like that of Simon Basset and Daphne Bridgerton.
Well, only time will tell.

What is new in this season?
Last season kept everyone hooked with the sizzling romance of Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page) and Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor).Their relationship had the classic enemies-to-lovers trope.
Sadly, this time we won’t be seeing Regé-Jean Page on screen. But, don’t be disappointed because this time we have some beautiful, new actors on board.
The new season will introduce The Sharma family. This season will focus on the love story of Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), the eldest Bridgerton sibling.
The thing that we are most excited about is that Anthony Bridgerton’s love interest will be played by none other than Simone Ashley. Yes, our own Olivia from Sex Education!
Who are the Sharmas?
The new family to be introduced on Bridgerton will be of Indian descent.
As we mentioned above, Simone Ashley will play Kate Sharma, the love interest of Anthony Bridgerton.
Charirthra Chandan will play the younger sister of Kate Sharma who is called Edwina Sharma.
“Edwina has been taught by her older sister Kate to be the perfect debutante. She’s kind-natured and endlessly endearing. But while she may be young and naive, she also knows what she wants: a true love match,” revealed the television company Shondaland.
Kate and Edwina’s mother Mary Sharma will be played by Shelley Conn.
“Lady Mary’s marriage once embroiled her and her family in scandal. Now newly returned to London with her daughters, she’s forced to endure the scrutiny of the town yet again,” Shondaland quoted.
Theo Sharpe, a hardworking printer’s assistant, will be played by Calam Lynch. And finally Rupert Young will play Jack who has connections with notable families.
From Sex Education to main lead on Bridgerton, let’s talk about Simone Ashley
Kate Sharma, the character played by Simone Ashley is described as ,”Newly arrived in London, Kate is a smart, headstrong young woman who suffers no fools—Anthony Bridgerton very much included.”
Simone Ashley is very excited for fans to watch the show. She told in an interview that she was definitely nervous after taking the role due to the immense popularity of Bridgerton. However, she was instantly relieved after getting a lot of support from the other actors. She says that everyone on the set is very kind and helping and made her feel like a family.

You won’t see more of Duke of Hastings
Netflix confirmed that Duke of Hastings won’t return for season 2.
The official statement read –
“Dearest Readers,
While all eyes turn to Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s quest to find a Viscountess, we bid adieu to Rege-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings. We’ll miss Simon’s presence onscreen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family. Daphne will remain a devoted sister, helping her brother navigate the upcoming social season and what it has to offer – more intrigue and romance than readers may be able to hear.

Our expectations from Season 2 of Bridgerton
More of Lady Whistledown-
We do not know about you but we are surely in love with Lady Whistledown and we would love to see her more in the next season. We are especially looking forward to seeing Lady Whistledown from a new perspective for the first time. In the final season, we got to know the real identity of this mysterious gossip lady.
We would love to see how all of this plays out when the audience knows the identity of Lady Whistledown but the people in the show don’t.
The actress, Nicola Coughlan who plays Lady Whistledown in the show is also looking forward to this. She wants her character to have fun while going to the balls. She would love to play the dual identity.
Simon and Daphne’s baby may appear –
Since Simon won’t be there, speculations are that Daphne and his baby may make a cameo. The baby was born by the end of season 1 and we would definitely like to see Daphne in a mother’s role in the next season.
Conclusion –
Netflix hasn’t confirmed a date for the premiere of season 2. These are just our speculations from a clip that was released some days ago. We are eagerly waiting for more news from the directors and the actors of the show.
