Questions and answers

What were the major factors that gravitated you into becoming a digital marketer by profession?

When I was working with the financial sector, I wanted to move on to a different sector. So, I started working an NGO portal named Sweksha. It was only during a fundraiser we had started, I realized the power of social media. I understood how this can be a powerful tool for brands as well, so I ventured into digital marketing.

You have become the best Social Media Manager of the Year 2013 – Strategic Services. Share with us your experience on such a big break?

Strategic Services was the first company where I started my journey. Coming from a financial background and receiving honor as the best social media manager was a great motivation for me. It also filled me with the motivation to kick-start my digital marketing journey and excel in that domain as well.

You have consulted brands and companies from varied industries like Hospitality, FMCG, FMCD, Real Estate, Education, Automobile. Share with us one of the best experiences you had while working with any one of the industries.

One of my best experiences was working with the hospitality sector. In this industry it’s very important to be on your toes and get to know what people are actually looking for, whether it’s service, whether it’s related to food, whether it’s bringing in equal amounts the footfall. When we talk about the hospitality sector it’s all about making the customers happy. So, I toured around various hotels to derive a perfect digital strategy based on the customer requirements. It was a fun and enthralling experience for me!

You have been working as a digital marketer for so many years. What is the one thing about your job that you like the most?

There are fundamentals of digital marketing, but the way this has transformed always
keeps me on my toes learning on a daily basis. It’s like I’m always a student on the
go and also adding value to people’s brands with whatever best I know.

What were some of the setbacks that you initially faced during the start of your career and what major lessons did you learn?

When I came to Delhi I wanted to start a digital marketing company but I was having
a hard time. Nonetheless I never lost hope and kept going. So after failing a couple of
times and 7 years later, I am elated to add have been adding value to many brands
and helping them gain the recognition that they deserve.

Having completed a year in the financial sector, you decided to change my course and took a step towards non profitable organisations. What was the major reason behind this decision?

After completing my term in financial sector I came back to my hometown i.e. Ranchi.
There I started meeting a lot of people and observed that a lot of them wanted to give
back to the society. But there was a challenge that they were not able to find NGOs.
So, I started collecting all the data related to NGOs from the internet. Like the NGOs
who are working under certain different categories, I created a library of NGOs named
SWEKSHA.
