An Adept 'Art-epreneur'
It all started at a summer camp in Gurgaon. I was a mother of two at the time teaching art to children. Although I always aspired to be a school teacher, becoming a mother changed my priorities. Couple of small art workshops that I conducted made me realise that this was my calling .
I learnt some art forms under the National Award winning Artists at that time. I started educating myself , understanding art , concepts and upgrading myself during this period and I learned over 400 art forms. From origami to acrylic painting to traditional ones, I studied them all. My favourite one happens to be coffee painting since I am a caffeine head and love the monochromatic color scheme and of course the aroma .
This profession being adaptive to various environments, created a surplus of opportunity for me. I got to work with several industries, schools, colleges, and have taught over a total of forty thousand art enthusiasts. The smiles which I see on my students are priceless to me. I customise workshops for the corporates, colleges and schools. So from paintings to paper craft to clay craft , all mediums and bases I work upon and I train executives and students in these .
Publishing a book titled‘Pichwai Paintings – Heritage of Rajasthan’ was huge attainment for me in 2010. A personal call from Mrs . Tarla Dalal , the cookery queen for the coffee painting I did for her magazine ‘Cooking and More’ made my day . I have also won Best Performance award by Pidilite Industries in 2018 . Best Artist award from UNIMO in October 2020.
Presently I manage my Instagram called the Curiocity98, where I promote different regional art forms of India. I have been taking art therapy sessions for corporates during COVID. In the coming years, I see myself opening an art café or store and help other artists promote their pieces through it.
It’s been a beautiful ongoing journey of 23 years , and the most important lesson I have to give you all is to be a wholehearted giver. Only the brave share all. Just some basic principles will take us a long way.
