Bollywood Superstar Aamir Khan and producer Kiran Rao are ending their marriage. It was jointly announced by both of them through an official statement. The former couple has been married for almost 15 years. They also have a ten-year-old son, Azad Rao Khan.

The statement reads, “In these 15 beautiful years together we have shared a lifetime of experiences, joy and laughter, and our relationship has only grown in trust, respect and love. Now we would like to begin a new chapter in our lives – no longer as husband and wife, but as co-parents and family for each other. We began a planned separation some time ago, and now feel comfortable to formalise this arrangement, of living separately yet sharing our lives the way an extended family does. We remain devoted parents to our son Azad, who we will nurture and raise together. We will also continue to work as collaborators on films, Paani Foundation, and other projects that we feel passionate about.

Further, Aamir and Kiran thanked their families and friends for their support and understanding about the new change in their lives. After that, they requested their well-wishers for looking at the divorce as the start of a new journey.
The ‘Thugs of Hindostan’ actor was previously married to Reena Dutta. They got married in 1986 and took divorce after 16 years of marriage. Afterwards, Khan married Kiran Rao whom he met on the sets of ‘Lagaan’. Rao was an assistant director. The former couple welcomed their son, Azad Rao Khan in 2011. Aamir also has a son, Junaid Khan and a daughter, Ira Khan from his first marriage. Shortly after the news of Aamir’s divorce came in, Fatima Sana Sheikh started trending on Twitter and Google. In the first place, Aamir Khan and Fatima co-starred in the film ‘Dangal’. According to some media reports, rumours of their dating are doing rounds. However, it is still early to say anything with clarity about both of them.
Aamir’s film ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ is set to release this Christmas. Kareena Kapoor Khan will also be starring in the movie.
