Aishwarya Rai Bachchan turns older “on paper”

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, the childhood crush of everyone in India, turns 48 today. However, the former Miss World still looks young enough to make anyone fall for her “again”.

It is safe to say that she has aged just “on paper” and not a bit since the first time we all saw her and instantly fell for her.

Aishwarya, popularly referred to as Aish by her fans, has often been, rightly, called “The most beautiful woman in the world” by the media and her admirers.

Birthday Wishes

As the diva turned 48 today, several members of the film fraternity wished her through their social media handles.

Madhuri Dixit shared a cute picture of Aishwarya being hugged by her daughter Aradhya with a message that read “Happy birthday to the gorgeous Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. Wishing you a happy and healthy life.”

Shilpa Shetty Kundra posted a picture of them with their kids, “Happy birthday to you my dear. Sending good vibes, love and positivity your way”, she wrote.

Anushka Sharma posted a beautiful picture of the diva on her Instagram story and wrote, “Happy birthday Aishwarya! Wishing you love and light always”.

Rakul Preet Singh also posted a glamorous picture of Aishwarya on her Instagram story and wrote, “Happy Birthday Aishwarya ma’am! Wishing you lots of love and abundant health”.

Yesterday, Amitabh Bachchan expressed his “gracious gratitude” for all the birthday wishes for his daughter-in-law, on his blog.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

Aishwarya Rai was born in Mangalore on 1st November 1973.

With an aim of becoming an architect, Aishwarya enrolled at Rachana Sansad Academy of Architecture, but later gave up her education to pursue modelling. She also trained in classical dancing and music for five years in her teens.

Aish became popular by saying a single line- “Hi, I’m Sanjana”, in the 1993 Pepsi commercial also featuring Aamir Khan and Mahima Chaudhary.

Aishwarya Rai went on to win the Miss World crown in 1994. With the victory came many movie offers.

Rai made her acting debut in 1997 Tamil movie Iruvar. She went onto star in notable movies like “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam”, “Mohabbatein”, “Devdas”, “Jodhaa Akbar”, “Dhoom 2”, “Guru”, etc.

Love Life

Everyone knew Aishwarya was dating her “Hum dil de chuke sanam” costar Salman Khan and after their break up in 2002, Aish claimed that Salman failed to come to terms with their break up and was harassing her. Aishwarya cited infidelity, verbal, physical and emotional abuse as reasons for ending the relationship.

She later dated Vivek Oberoi who famously gave her 30 gifts for her 30th birthday. Aishwarya was quoted describing Vivek as “immature” post break up.

The actress started dating Abhishek Bachchan around 2005. However, the one year long relationship hit turbulence when the Bachchans were invited to Yashraj Studios for a special screening of Dhoom 2.

Rumours started doing rounds on how displeased were the Bachchans to see their Bahu-to-be making out with Hrithik Roshan.

Becoming a “Bachchan”

She tied the knot with her Guru co-star Abhishek Bachchan and became Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in 2007. Her wedding to the junior Bachchan was a lowkey affair on account of his grandmother’s poor health. Much of the Bollywood fraternity seemed mighty outraged on not being invited.

The couple welcomed their daughter Aradhya in their life in 2011.

Post-pregnancy, the star took a break from her on screen projects and returned to the big screen with movies like Jazbaa(2015), Sarabjit(2016), “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil”(2016),etc.

Aishwarya will be next seen in “Ponniyin Selvan”.

Ponniyin Silvan is a Tamil epic historical fiction film directed by Mani Ratnam. The film also features Amitabh Bachchan, Vikram and Karthi among others.
