Questions and answers

You mentioned that you believe in a universal experience that enables empathy and compassion for others. Do you believe that empathy enables an author to sketch his characters better?

No doubt! Lack of empathy portrays things as quite plastic and artificial. I believe empathy is triggered since your childhood days; there are a number of sensitive issues almost everyone goes through. For example, when you are young, things are easy and fun, but as you transition into an adult, you realize things are not as easy and fancy as they seem to be and you start developing a different sort of empathy towards your surroundings. Similarly, while I’m writing, I attempt to see myself as that character and put myself in their shoes. I believe a writer pens down his/her thoughts best in this manner.

Which is the one character you resonate with?

Well, Zeus is a mythological character who ruled during the Roman Empire. He conquered places with the help of his army and an eagle. I feel that his character reflects me as I wish to be undefeated too, in my own league. I consider the eagle to be my spirit animal with my immunity and knowledge make up my troop. Hence, I relate to him in a spiritual way.

What are some of the benefits of channeling one’s emotions through writing and how do you do it?

While writing, I like to convey my emotions in the middle and towards the climax, making sure to include some positive and optimistic words and ending on a happy note. The reason being is that my readers do not acquire any negative thoughts and may inculcate as much optimism as possible! Emotions should be expressed with a good blend of sensitivity and positivity as people might be going through difficult phases of their life and your piece of writing could make a difference!

Could you share with our readers some of the tips they can use when facing “Writer’s block”?Could you share with our readers some of the tips they can use when facing “Writer’s block”?

Sometimes, writers face this problem due to society; you might feel what you are writing may not be appreciated by others. However, I suggest going ahead with your  talent and being limitless! If you are comfortable enough, be brave and express your thoughts. Write what you feel like, but be relevant. The write-up should have a good mix of empathy, logic, and intelligence. Give yourself breaks too along with enjoying the process.

You believe that success like happiness can’t be pursued, it must be ensured. Could you elaborate a bit on that?

Definitely, achieving something will make me confident and brave but I feel finding happiness in success is partial happiness. For example, I might be successful and be in limelight, but that’ll only be for a short time period and will remain a fad. So, I personally believe in spiritual bonding; success and happiness have the best chemistry when shared with your family members, partner, or people you love.

What inspired “Aura of the Ocean”?

I’ve always been fascinated by the cosmos and nature, and reading about it has always sparked my interest. In my late teens, I had no idea of the exact direction of my life, and at that time, looking at the sky made me come up with random thoughts and ideas which were pure fantastical. I used to visit a beach and I felt an instant connection with it- The high and the low tides are somewhat similar to the ups and downs we face in life too. Though the ocean seems quiet and peaceful, you may never know what goes inside and the depth it possesses. All this attracted me immensely and I ended up writing about it.
