Ashwini Nemade: An artistic take

As a teen I was an extremely puzzled child, making decisions was a hard-bitten task for me but just like everyone else even I had a dream. I always wanted to opt for art and learn fashion designing but could not pursue it. Everyone in my family is an engineer and I wanted to break the monotony. I pursued BSC as I never wanted to become an engineer. Gradually when I learned software development, it created a knack for working in the IT industry. I have always been an artistic person and subsequently, I realized that there is art everywhere, even in the smallest of things.

Working in the corporate opens doors for some amount of workload and sometimes we have to operate on weekends. Days, turned into years working as a software engineer, and then we were slapped with the pandemic along with boredom. The pandemic restricted our moment and being a travel junkie, I found it a little hard to stay home. One day I was comfortably sitting in my room and the idea of making mandala art struck me. I held a dark pencil and started drawing it on the white paper. Initially, my art was not dandy but as they say, Practice makes a man perfect. Gradually my art matured which left me and my family amazed, they started upholding me. Later on, I did two collaborations based on a theme with an artist and recommenced mandala art.

Now when I reminisce about starting mandala art, I can recall nothing but the solace it provided me. The process was very exciting, it impacted me so much that I enacted it in my life as well. I learned the art of letting go and it transformed me spiritually, even in mandala art we make mistakes that cannot be undone. Similarly, in life mistakes that we commit are a thing of the past, we cannot do anything by repenting them. Both in life and mandala, we learn to let go, make amendments and continue to work and that’s the beauty of it.
