On June 25, the government of India stated that a total of 48 Delta Plus variant covid cases had been reported in the country. So far, Maharashtra has seen the highest number of these cases. Presently, B.1.617.2 (Delta) variant is the reason behind 90% of coronavirus cases in India.
COVID-19 Delta Plus is now a variant of concern (VOC) in India. According to virologists, it can dodge immunities. ‘That is because it carries all symptoms of the original Delta variant and also from its partner Beta variant’, says Shahid Jameel, a virologist and director of the Trivedi School of Biosciences.
