The current data concerning the UK region has confirmed a surge in coronavirus infections. The cases are picking up pace as of June 17, 2021. Delta variant infections have crossed the mark of 10,000 owing to the highly contagious mutation. This has happened for the first time in four months.
The number of infections has hiked in a week by 33,630, making a total of 75,953. Going by the statistics, 806 people are hospitalised due to the Delta variant. Public Health England (PHE) has notified that two doses of coronavirus vaccine give ‘high degree of protection’ against the severity of Delta variant.
