Lovlina Borgohain wins a bronze medal in the women’s welterweight (64-69 Kg category). She is bringing home India’s third medal in Boxing in the prestigious Olympic Games. The boxer’s father says, ‘In our village, we are so happy. People from every street are coming to our homes to congratulate us and Lovlina. About 8 years ago, she joined boxing in 2012. After joining boxing, she won a gold in national games. After that, be it international or national games, she has always won something. I believe, getting a medal (in Tokyo Olympics) makes us happier, She chose boxing when she was 14 years-old.’

Wishing her, President Ram Nath Kovind tweeted, ‘Congratulations to Lovlina Borgohain! With your hard work and dogged determination, you have done the nation proud. Your Bronze medal in boxing at the Olympics Games will inspire the youth, especially young women, to battle with challenges and turn their dreams into reality.’

PM Modi took to Twitter, ‘Well fought Lovlina Borgohain! Her success in the boxing ring inspires several Indians. Her tenacity and determination are admirable. Congratulations to her on winning the Bronze. Best wishes for her future endeavours.’
