MS Dhoni : ‘Captain Cool’ Turns 40

Legacy of MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni is celebrating his 40th birthday today, on 7th July. Born in 1981, Dhoni has been the face of Indian cricket for more than a decade. Not to mention, he is regarded as one of the most successful Indian cricket team captains.

The Career of MS Dhoni

Dhoni had been involved with Indian railways before he started playing professional cricket. If you have seen ‘MS Dhoni: The Untold Story’, you can picture him as a man with medium length locks, a charismatic smile and a calm persona. He began his journey in the international arena in the year 2004.

Although he faced slight difficulties while his career was at the initial stages, soon he scored 148 against Pakistan in Vizag, 2005. After that, he secured his place in the Indian team as a ‘finisher’. More importantly, his captainship led the Indian team to a well-deserved T20 ODI World Cup win in 2007. Then in 2011, Dhoni ended the drought of a World Cup title after the wait of 28 years. He was the one to hit the match-winning shot. India also won the 2013 Champions Trophy, under the guidance of MS Dhoni!
