Princess Diana’s Statue Ceremony Unites Prince William and Prince Harry
Diana, the Princess of Wales died at the age of 36 years in France. She would have turned 60 this year. To honour her legacy, her sons Prince William and Prince Harry commissioned a statue. This project was commissioned in 2017 to Rank – Broadley.
On her 60th birth anniversary, Prince William and Prince Harry put away their differences. They unveiled their mother’s statue together. The bronze statue was covered with a green-coloured cloth. Because of the coronavirus induced pandemic, the ceremony was an intimate one. As a matter of fact, a limited number of people attended the event. Along with Prince William and Prince Harry, Diana’s two sisters, her brother and members of the statue committee were seen in the ceremony.
The Royal Family Rift
Not to mention, Prince Harry had stepped out of royal duties last year. Additionally, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are having problems with the royal family. It came to light because of the interview taken by Oprah Winfrey. However, the event functioned in a friendly way.
Prince Harry spoke to Oprah that the two were on “different paths”. He is referring to the relationship between him and his brother.
Such as, in May, he talked about his family’s reluctance to talk about his mother’s death. Moreover, he was expected to “suffer” in silence. He further said that he had been willing to drink and take drugs as a coping mechanism for his mother’s death.
Princess Diana’s Legacy
Popularly called the People’s Princess, she was one of those persons with the richest heart. The way she has bonded with the common people is highly uncommon within the royal household. Hence, the title ‘People’s Princess’. She supported charity foundations. That is to say, she was a patron of almost 100 charities. Her larger-than-life personality will live on.
