Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty filed Defamation Suit
Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty filed a defamation suit against actress Sherlyn Chopra. The defamation suit seeks an apology and Rs. 50 crores in damages from Sherlyn Chopra for making “lewd, below the belt” remarks against the couple in public. The official statement reads, “The entire allegations made by Ms. Sherlyn Chopra against Mr. Raj Kundra and Ms. Shilpa Shetty Kundra, are concocted, false, fake, frivolous, baseless, without any evidence, even to Ms. Sherlyn Chopra’s knowledge, and have been made with an ulterior motive to defame and extort money.” The notice was sent by the lawyer Prashant P Patil, representing the couple. The notice mentioned that Raj Kundra is the founder JL stream app. The app is an entertainment app that let’s its users meet, interact and view exclusive content made by their favourite influencers. The JL stream app is working with close to 300 such influencers and Sherlyn was one of them. Shilpa Shetty has nothing to do with the app, but Sherlyn Chopra has been dragging her name in hopes of publicity. The legal suit also says that Sherlyn Chopra had confessed to Shilpa Shetty, in April of this year, that she made allegations against Raj Kundra under influence of her lawyer and she would unconditionally withdraw the complaints. The couple also accused her of trying to extort 48 Lakhs from them through her lawyer on 4th of October.
Sherlyn Chopra had earlier filed a suit against Raj Kundra alleging sexual harassment and criminal intimidation. On 14th October, Sherlyn filed a fresh suit against the couple alleging fraud and mental harassment.
Raj Kundra, a businessman, recently got out of jail on 21st September after spending 2 months in custody. He was taken in custody in the controversial “Pornography case” in mid-July. Sherlyn Chopra had given an official statement against Raj Kundra in the case. She said that Raj and his firm’s creative director had repeatedly followed her to work for the mobile application named ‘HotShots’. HotShots is the name of the controversial app circulating bold content. She has also been speaking out against the celebrity couple on different public forums.
Earlier, in an interview in September, Gehana Vasisth, actress from Alt Balaji’s show Gandi Baat, spoke against Sherlyn Chopra. Gehana further said that Sherlyn Chopra dragged Raj Kundra into making “bold content”.
“She (Sherlyn Chopra) has nothing else to do and is only doing this to keep herself in the news.”, Said Gehana, “Also, Sherlyn pulled off this stunt so that she does not come across as an accused for making bold content. But now she has started getting personal with Shilpa Shetty, who is not giving any attention to her statement.” Gehana added.
Gehana alleged, “In fact, it is Sherlyn who dragged Raj Kundra into making bold content,” saying Sherlyn should be thankful to Kundra because she made a lot of money because of him. She added, “She (Sherlyn) also knows that she will get attention only if she speaks against Raj Kundra and that is what she has been doing. She probably felt left out after Raj Kundra came out of jail and people forgot about her, so, she began attacking Shilpa Shetty.”

July, 2021– Raj Kundra is arrested by Mumbai police in relation to his app “HotShots” for making and distributing “pornographic content”.
September, 2021-Sherlyn Chopra’s statement in the chargesheet against Raj Kundra mentions that she had signed a contract with Raj’s firm to develop an app named “The Sherlyn Chopra App”. She was to get “50% of the revenue” but “did not even receive 1%”. However, she was approached to work for “HotShots” but refused on not reaching a consensus in terms of creativity and revenue.
14th, October– An FIR is filed by Sherlyn Chopra alleging fraud and mental harassment by Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra.
19th, October-Raj Kundra and Shilpa Shetty file a Rs.50 crore defamation suit and allege “extortion” on 4th of October through her lawyer.
