Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, The Big Bull of Indian stock market, let out his wishes for Diwali and his mantra for investment in stock market to actress Shraddha Kapoor in a candid interview this Diwali.

The interview touched on many spheres of life- from their journeys, stock market understandings, to their success mantras.

Wishes

On being asked what he wishes for this Diwali, Jhunjhunwala wished for happiness, contentment, health and satisfaction for this New year. (Diwali is considered to be the start of a new year in many cultures).

“I just pray to God to keep me happy, content, healthy and satisfied. Wealth and success is temporary and transient. What I would like to ask and pray to God is give me contentment and happiness, not to envy others and treat others well,” Jhunjhunwala told the ‘Ek Villain’ actor.

Shraddha Kapoor amused at his response responded how she always wished to be an actor, to which the big bull said “The dream for me was to become a large equity investor”.

The Big Bull has surely fulfilled his dream by our standards, however, one never knows what “large” means for the veteran investor.

Incidentally, it is also reported that Rakesh Jhunjhunwala has earned over 100 crores on Diwali Muhurat trading.

(Diwali Muhurat– Each year stock markets are opened for an hour on Diwali so that people can invest their fortunes as a good omen on a specific time AKA muhurat. Stock markets are closed on the occasion of Diwali except for that one hour)

Learnings from Gita

Speaking on his learnings from Gita, the investor says “Humans should learn to accept defeat”. Rakesh further said one must not focus on the outcomes as it is controlled by the god, however, one must focus on his hard work.

“The world is an ocean and I am a drop in it. I am not here permanently and so I don’t get setback mentally if something is denied to me or does not happen” said the Big bull explaining how setbacks are a part of life.

Fears

Rakesh, while replying to a question on fearlessness, said he only fears three things-The god, as he is almighty and we must bow in front of him. The other two things are time and one’s dreams. However, he also said that if one uses his time in a responsible manner than one should not be afraid of it. While on dreams a person must be aware what he is dreaming of and what might be the repercussions. A person cannot go to a knife fight without being aware that the knife can kill him.

One must dream properly and work towards that dream in a timely manner.

Jhunjhunwala’s children

“We had children late, I am 62, my daughter is 18, my twin sons are 12”, said Rakesh Jhunjhunwala when talking about dreams to Shraddha. He further said how he no dreams or ambitions for his children to become a better investor than him. If my son “wants to be a pianist, be a pianist”. He said he will teach his son about stock market only if he is interested in it, he would not force it.

The Big bull says his daughter is his princess while talking about his children.

Stock market

While giving tips for beginners in investing, he said how it is a full-time job. He as a professional investor can tell you to invest and forget but who will monitor it? One has to focus on that to earn good returns from the stock market.

Everyone should invest in stock markets and plan accordingly. The planning should be done like how one plans when one is buying a new home. A specific percent of total income should always be invested. It also helps in saving taxes over the years, said The Big Bull.
