Riya Kaur Chhabra - Designing my dreams
I’ve been a fashion aspirant since childhood. Since my journey began, I’ve been through teenage insecurities. I’ve been into fashion, and I came up with the motivation to chase my dreams. Once I completed my diploma in fashion designing, I started my brand. Initially, I started with social media, I became a fashion influencer and a Fashion model and on 28th February 2020, launched my own brand Sui Dhaaga. I’m very much into launching new faces, new people irrespective of their body types. This is the main purpose of my dream since I design for women I want women to break out of the shell of societal stigmas and wear anything they want to.
Me and my team worked on four collections, so it took almost the whole of 2019 to create four collections. 2019 was all about me travelling around exploring growing new ideas for my brand and the most unbelievable thing happened when I got a opportunity to create an exclusive collection for Lakme Gen Next. It was a wonderful experience, I was frantic and worried but the end result was worth it. I received the Youngest Entrepreneur Award at the launch of My Brand ‘Sui Daaga’ by the gorgeous Karishma Kapoor and the feeling was inexplicable.
During the quarantine we really wanted to do someone a good turn with our creativity , So we made a few masks for the people who weren’t much aware about the pandemic. Me and my brand distributed masks for the children of a government school. It made me happy that I was able to do my bit for the community! I’m eternally grateful to my parents, my close friends, mentors and of course, Mr. Shubhdeep Singh who had helped me through every face of my dream.
Fashion, to me, is feeling comfortable in my own and body, feeling confident in whatever I’m adorned with. This is the main motive of my brand. We have every size to fit every women.Whoever steps into my boutique, I want them to know that you can be unapologetically yourself, I want them to know that my brand is for them. Through my brand, I want people to know that they don’t need to change themselves to fit into my outfits. Wear your wish is what Sui Dhaaga stands for.
