Questions and answers
In spite of having a full-time job as a UI/UX Designer, how did you ensure that you always had time for your passion?
I started having time since work from home started. Earlier, I used to be tired after all the commuting. I would leave at 7.15 Am and come back home at 6-7 pm. After all that I could only think of my bed. Work from home has been a blessing in disguise.
Do you feel that you chose your passion or did it choose you?
I think it chose me. Because whenever I’d think of something that would bring me happiness all the time, singing and fashion would instinctively come to my mind.
Tell us about your tryst with music and how did you become such an important part of your life?
My relationship with music is that of a child and a parent. Because, I do tend to ignore it, not practice, not give enough importance to it, but I see myself finding a way back to it and then kinda feeling guilty for understating it’s value.
As a budding influencer, what are some of the ethics that you stick to in all your posts?
The ethics that I stick to are Honesty and Authenticity. I remember, a skincare brand had approached for a collaboration where their guidelines mentioned that I have to speak good about their products. I let the offer pass because I cannot say good or bad about the product without testing it by myself. Not only for a review but for life, in general, I appreciate honesty and authenticity.
When did you first realise your love for fashion and how do you describe your personal style?
I always loved dressing up and was crazy about wearing matching accessories since I can remember.
As far as my personal style is concerned, I am still experimenting with different styles and would not label any one as mine just as yet. Lately I’m finding myself more inclined towards colourful yet classy looks, like colourful pantsuits or a vibrant satin saree with sequined blouse.
Is the name of the Brand important to you when you buy clothing? Why?
No, the name of the brand doesn’t matter to me when I buy. It matters to me in the cases of only inner wear and activewear kind of durable items. Something with which cannot compromise on the quality. For the rest, I simply love street shopping and picking local inexpensive pieces!
How did the lockdown act as a boon for your singing and was there anything special that you did to get into a creative mindset?
Lockdown surely was a boon! It introduced me to this world of social media. The biggest gift lockdown gave me was the gift of time. During the lockdown, 2 hours of commutation time was saved and plus office work was not much because everyone was adjusting to the new normal.
Recently we have seen the 90s fashion making a come-back. What are in your eyes the best trends at the moment?
I’m loving the indo western looks that everyone is opting for. This Diwali “modern Diwali looks” were at a hype and I love them.
A lot of influencers wore pantsuits having traditional motifs and patterns on them and I Instantly fell for them.
Can you share with our readers some tips and tricks to create a sustainable yet trendy wardrobe?
I would suggest having a lot of good quality basics in your wardrobe, like plain T shirts in colours black, white or whichever colours you prefer. 2-3 good quality pairs of bottoms of different shades and maybe a few plain kurtas. This will help you wear the same pieces again and again but creating different stylish looks.
Having battled anxiety and depression, what is your opinion on the counselling and mental health services available in India?
Earlier there was a lot of stigma. But, the situation has definitely become much better in the past 3-4 years. However, more people should come out with their stories in order to encourage others to seek help and not fight in silence. I really hope I could benefit the mental health industry in some way or the other during my lifetime.
