Virendra Sehwag celebrates his 43rd birthday today. Wishes started to pour in from around the world to wish India’s now retired opener. Sehwag has now taken up the baton of commentary and cricket analysis post retirement. Known for his witty remarks and sense of humour, Sehwag now keeps in touch with his fans through social media. Virendra Sehwag along with former cricketer Sanjay Bangar turned entrepreneur and founded Cricuru. Cricuru is a pet project of Virendra Sehwag which he wanted to start since 2003-04. The app let’s its users get coached using artificial intelligence. Virendra Sehwag in an interview had expressed how not everyone in the country gets the chance to afford high class coaching and how even he had to move to Mumbai in 1988-89 to pursue his cricketing career. The pandemic of 2020 gave Virendra Sehwag and Sanjay Bankar the opportunity to finally pursue the project. They shot over 100 hours of content for its userbase.

 Virendra Sehwag who was known for his fierce batting style is the only Indian cricketer to score 2 test triple tons. He was also the part of 2007 T20I world cup winning team and the 2011 World Cup winning team. His contribution to Indian cricket has been tremendous, which can be seen by the popularity of the cricketer.

In his career, Sehwag scored a total of 8,586 runs in 104 Tests he played, besides also amassing 8,273 runs from 251 ODIs. The former opener also appeared in 19 T20Is for India, accumulating 394 runs.

Story of Virendra Sehwag

 Virendra Sehwag was born on 20th of October,1978. He was born in a Jat family of a grain merchant. His family hails from Haryana, though now they have settled in New Delhi. Sehwag completed his graduation from Jamia Milia Islamia University. He made his ODI debut in 1999 and test debut in 2001. In 2009, he became the first Indian player to be awarded the prestigious Wisden leading cricketer in the world for his performance in 2008. He was the former vice captain of Indian cricket team and former captain of IPL franchise Delhi Daredevils. Virendra Sehwag has faced a lot of ups and downs of the game but always persevered and made a comeback with great focus and passion. But, after a career span of 16 years, Virendra Sehwag announced his retirement from all forms of cricket, both domestic and international in 2015.

 He chose to explore his entrepreneurial skills in 2020 with the launch of Cricuru with his compatriot Sanjay Bankar.

Virendra Sehwag explores his witty side with his own talk-show “Virugiri dot com” on YouTube and other social media sites. He takes a dig at other players and shares his experiences. He also analyses previous games on his new talk show.

Today, the country remembers Sehwag for being the aggressive opening batsman. A batsman feared by bowlers till this day. This aggressive stance helped Sehwag become an unforgettable phenomenon of Indian cricket.
